Between the crackles of vinyl and the rummaging of vintage cassette tapes, Kohla crafts a timeless yet futuristic take on classic soul. Turning to legendary 60s artists for initial inspiration, such as Sam Cooke, Etta James, and Nat King Cole, she polishes her cinematic production with influence from contemporary house-hold names such as Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, and FKA Twigs. Co-produced by Dave Lloyd of Stillhound, her stories are coloured through a blend of digital and analogue, a vivid illustration of her sepia-tinged memories. A fine art graduate of The Edinburgh College of Art, her current interdisciplinary project is supported by Creative Scotland and Help Musicians.
