Following the rousing success of his headline UK tour in April 2023, the Glasgow based singer-songwriter Murdo Mitchell has “the mark of a truly talented artist”- Ones to Watch. With his sound described as a “finely honed slice of indie-folk leaning song-writing” (Clash), his raw and powerful voice is layered amongst a bed of sweeping acoustic guitars and humble production. This has led to a growing following including selling out his first London show at St Pancras Church in November 2022.
After Mitchell’s success with debut EP ‘Stay Nocturnal’ in 2021, a record that found praise from Earmilk, CLASH and XS Noize, the Scottish singer-songwriter returned once again with his passionate new offering ‘Ghosts’. The title single ‘Ghosts’ from his April 2023 Album ‘Aztec Jewel’, is described by Ones To Watch as “a haunting song tells a completely different story, one where dark and brooding makes for beautiful music that lingers in our minds.”
Mitchell’s team is rapidly growing, backed by a team of heavyweight representation - Pick & Mix MGMT, alongside Swedish indie tastemaker label Icons Creating Evil Art and X-Ray Touring. He has performed at some of Scotland’s most popular festivals such as T-In-The Park, Belladrum, Linlithgow Folk Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe. He performed live in 2021 with the esteemed Gabe Coulter, Starsailor, and then with his close companion, Dylan John Thomas in 2022, whom he joined on his sold-out tour later that year. This was followed by support shows with Far From Saints in Leeds and Glasgow in 2023. The same year Murdo set out on his first headline tour of the UK in April which was very well attended.
Behind the scenes, Mitchell has signed a deal for the world with Sony Music Norway/Drabant, has recorded with Chris Bond (Ben Howard), Ollie Green and has promised new music and live dates this year.
